not to my knowledge, no. which is definitely disappointing.

Yeah... no there isn't a way to do this, which i think is really annoying. I wish they could add a way to save custom coats...

Hmm... can you register the breed at all? I think in Sims 2 you could register breeds as a way to save coat markings and genetics. That's a real shame if there's not a way to do that in Sims 4. I don't have the game yet, so this is about all the insight I can offer.
What I’ve found so far is if you save a dog or cat with a custom coat (that you did in paint mode) to your library, and you then place it from the library into CAP, you can change the breed and the paint job will stay on the new breed you’ve selected. It’s a bit of a work around but I’ve found that it works. It would be nice if they patched in an option for us to save our custom coats in the catalogue though.

Thank you I know like we had in sims 3.
The may hopefully patch this in. The sims 3 had it. Hopefully 4 will get this option.

I would need it. I have done few custom coats and I would love if I could save them in a better way than through library. I would also like if the breeds that where made by players could show up in cap breed list and then custom coats could be saved in to cap color (or what ever was it called) list.

I wonder about some other thing, but related to pets' coats too. Is it possible to give your pet different coat for different outfits? I'm thinking about throwing the Spooky Party and I'd like to give my cat the skeleton look (or some other funny-looking coat). But I also don't want to loose or recreate his original fur. Any advice for that?
